Everything feels a bit too much right now. The world is heavy, and in some spaces where important things remain unspoken, the ones who care can feel lonely. So in this issue, I decided not to dwell on words and dived into my photography archive. This is a series of photographs I took while I was in Senegal as part of a residency at WAAW in Saint-Louis, in 2015. I selected moments I captured from the Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary, and others from Doune Baba Dieye, once a vibrant fishing community, now a sunken village, one of the many taken away by climate change. A mixture of hope, despair and beauty.
